The mHealth Alliance is continually expanding its reach into specific health topics. These health topics are often determined by strategic partnerships with other global health and mHealth organizations.
The current list of health focus areas include, but are not limited to:
Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health
The mHealth Alliance manages a competitive grant contest with the goal of facilitating public-private partnerships to support national scale-up processes and enable expanded reach to communities in need. These Innovation Working Group (IWG) grants are funded by Norad.
The mHealth Alliance is the secretariat of the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), a public-private partnership that engages an innovative global community to deliver vital health information to new and expectant mothers through mobile phones.
HIV/AIDS
The mHealth Alliance will be co-conducting two satellite sessions as a part of the AIDS 2012 conference that focus on mHealth for treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS.
Tuberculosis
On World TB Day, the mHealth Alliance, together with the Stop TB Partnership, published a paper highlighting the ways in which mHealth is currently being used in the fight against TB, and the ways in which the TB community could further embrace mobile technology for health. This is a conversation the Alliance will continue to pursue.
Smoking Cessation
On HUB, the Alliance houses the QuitNowTXT Message Library. This library provides health departments, government agencies, and academic institutions with a database of messages for smoking cessation interventions. This program consists of motivational and encouraging messages, as well as tips and fact-based information in an interactive text messaging format.
